For those of you in the Philippines, here are three dogs available for adoption. They are currently with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society , and they are ready to go. You can contact them by clicking on the link provided above. The dog with brindled fur is Hiyas. She's a survivor from the dog meat trade, rescued from the jaws of death. I feel that her sweetness just reaches out to you through the photo. The second dog is Jackie. She was rescued from a parking lot with almost no fur on her at the time, exposed to sun and rain and no food. A tough dog, indeed. People are heartless, aren't they? The third one is Missy. She came from a home, but domestic problems forced her out of it. Doesn't that sound very familiar? There are so many scenarios wherein an animal is the ultimate victim. Pick up the phone and schedule a meeting. You can also email PAWS at philpaws@yahoo.com These dogs need a loving, forever home. Keep in mind that there are many more dogs at PAWS who could be your partner for life.
Because I belong to an group of animal welfare advocates in the Philippines, I can read the numerous discussions between group members and people who, seems to me, just signed up to make an urgent plea for help. There were two this week who begged for assistance concerning two dogs who were tied up under rain and sun with no food nor water. One was described to be on the verge of a heat stroke. The images that filled my mind disturbed me immensely, but I am also encouraged at the same time. There is a growing number of animal welfare advocates in the Philippines and ordinary citizens are beginning to reject animal cruelty, willing to take personal action against it. Just from this website, I can see from the visitor data that many are seeking information on how to report animal cruelty in the Philippines. You can find my previous post on the subject HERE . Keep in mind that your complaint has legal standing via the Philippine Animal Welfare Act which is also known as the RA 8485 .

Responsible pet ownership involves taking your pet to the vet for regular checkups and for help when they are ill. An animal shelter is not the answer to a pet's illness. Take your pet to the vet as soon as possible. You've wasted a whole month. Your dog needs medical attention from a vet. An animal shelter provides a refuge to abused animals, but the welfare of a pet lies squarely on the human. Take your dog to the vet now.
